An ideal base to stop during the North Coast 500, you can get to many of the fantastic locations on the route easily. Allt Mor Parking – Aviemore

A quiet spot set in a circular forest car park, with great access to the Cairngorms, this is a wonderful spot for those looking for a hiking trail! With some plots having tables, make sure you’re on-site quick, it also has a cosy pub not too far away which is great for a drink or two after a long hike!

This popular campsite is well known for its shore-side location giving customers amazing views of the tidal waters. Seal Shore – Isle of Arran

If you want a relaxing trip away with great views, then Seal Shore on the Isle of Arran is for you. This fantastic campsite on the Southern tip of the island has spectacular views of Ailsa Craig and the Pladda Island. Enjoy peace and tranquillity but make sure you keep an eye out for the seals which are regularly spotted by visitors. The ferry books up fast, so make sure you book in advance.

Looking for a wilder, secluded or quieter campsite? Look no further than Mellon Udrigle, set in a stunning location of the West of Scotland looking out onto the Summer Isles. You can enjoy the view to the Assynt mountain range and look onto the Atlantic Ocean, you might even see some seals and dolphins if you’re lucky! This hidden gem is one not to miss.

With over 1,500 miles of footpaths to explore in the surrounding area, keen walkers have an abundance of amazing trails to discover. Just 5 minutes’ walk into the town of Melrose and you’ll find plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops. With the train station close by you are perfectly placed for day trips to Edinburgh – just under an hour away.

Mull of Galloway Lighthouse – Galloway Peninsula
With large parking available with a public restroom and dustbins on deck, this is an ideal spot for a quick stop along the West Coast. Be warned though, it can be an adventure to get to this idyllic spot but once you’re there, you will never want to leave with the Scottish coastline on one side and Ireland on the other… and it’s free!
